Choosing Copper
Why choose copper? Copper is one of the most fireproof materials available. It is highly resistant to thermal changes, meaning it does not deteriorate quickly. When done correctly, copper roofs can last anywhere from 50-100 years. Copper is a lightweight material which is a clear benefit when installed as your main roofing structure. Copper develops and oxidizes to what is called a patina. Copper starts out as a bright shiny metal, that changes to a dark brown colour.
